Central Queensland Capacity Building ProjectPeakCare Queensland Inc. initiated the Specialist Foster Care (SFC) & Residential Care Services (RCS) Pilot Project in August 2006. The project aims to build capacity of new and existing programs and individual workers involved in the provision of specialist foster care, residential care services and supported independent living programs. The project will be facilitated by Pamela Spall and Associates . The project will target Central Zone which receives $7.9m for delivery of specialist foster care, residential care and supported independent living services. The pilot will provide an understanding of what capacity building strategies work best in a non-metropolitan area. Specialist foster care and residential care have been selected for the pilot because specialist foster is a relatively new and emerging placement type. Alternatively whilst the delivery of residential care has a substantial history in Queensland, evidence about how residential care should be delivered has changed significantly. Supported independent living is also targeted because of its complementary link to residential care. This project is not a workforce analysis project involving assessment of skill shortages and devising industry wide strategies for meeting industry skill demand. However the project might make recommendations in relation to ongoing work in this area in the final report. |
